If it's a DCoutput only Tig inverterI am considering using my 160a inverter for dc tig. Just wondering what tungsten would be best for mainly cast ally, but also possible lighter steel & ally work, 1.6 or 2.4 or doesn't it matter. torch will be wp17v Binzel.
Thanks
Exactly this. If you run DCEP rather than DCEN and up the W size a lot to cope then you can do thin Al with DC. It's bloody horrible though as that is a lot of juice in the tungsten and is pretty hot for such thin metal. From info I've gathered it's possible to dc tig alu...
That's possible - not nice, not simple.
Apparently it gets a little better if you go a bit more exotic with your shielding gas.
Is that pure He or an ArHe mix mate? You can run DCEN and weld aluminium using helium. It's not pretty and it won't give you a sound weld I wouldn't have thought.
I'm not up on the electron theory enough to expand on why though.
ROFL had forgotten about that!I'm still waiting on Backpurge to get back to me on that.
Say What??Figures came from playing with my Lego
Just had a price off BOC 70% argon 30% helium. £329 per refill.Last cylinder of helium mix i looked at was getting close to the same price as a eBay special ac tig set.
YesIs balloon gas considered too impure to weld with?
