Today i sharpened a couple of tungstens, firstly using the aforementioned bench grinder, then tried a fine flap wheel in a handheld grinder. The one on the bench grinder had a nice and straight grain and looked okay to my (untrained) eye. I was expecting the one done with a flap wheel to be better but i struggled to get the grain nice and straight. Obviously i was using it in the right direction and trying to get it as straight as possible.
For now il stick to to bench grinder, but have taken on board what the rest of you are doing.
