Tumble Dryer Cost

My Beko Compressor Condensing dryer is a godsend, wouldn't be without it, just a tumbling de-humidifier. In winter puts heat back into house minus water. Win-win.

We have got one of these too, and it works really well. Like all tumble driers, you should clean the lint filters every time, or you are reducing its efficiency, AND also minimising any risk of fire.
We don't use it much though, not primarily because of the electricity cost, but because the movement, abrasion, and heat, is wearing the clothes out as it dries.
Tumble drier safe stuff is merely heat resistant, and there can be no doubt that driers are shortening the life of the clothes.

This from someone who hates clothes shopping, let alone spending money on them !

intresting to know if thats true but i ve knowna few painted towel rads but the painted one dont seam to last as long before they get rust marks on and thats a bit stupid as they are supposed to have towel hung on them

in our bathroom in both ours houses we had new white towel rails i fitted both only lasted 3 or 4 years then i took it out fitted a new chrome towel rail and its been there for over 5 years and still as new

i wont fit a towel rail as they provide very little heat within a bathroom, i also warn customers of this and do advise them to fit a proper radiator within the bathroom

as goes for drying a small 400x400 rad is good enough for the old airing cupboard

Just googled again & some sites are claiming chrome rads as 20 to 30% less heat output which is quite a lot!

the chrome acts like a reflector of heat keeping the heat in more than out

chrome plating has change its like they are penny pinching when there being dipped as you tend to notice it more with chrome showers and the stuff they make nowadays is more poor quality than it was in the early days of the showers

Of course it doesn't, any more than the carpet pile does. What I am saying is that the evidence is of previous damage, which is now being removed. It is not evidence that the current process has damaged it.

That may be partially true, but, as can be evinced by my direct observation of my clothing lasting twice as long as before, there is a definite boon to not using the tumble drier.
In your eagerness to debunk myths, you have put your foot right in it.

Ironing. I dimly recall such a thing. Mine come off the airer, folded, into the wardrobe. Never ironed whilst here.

and clean the pipes from the filter to the outlet at the back a few times a year only a case of removing the clip on flex pipe connector and using a brush in there and then a quick hoover to remove the fluff
