Tube bending

Would anyone nearby be able to bend some tubes for me? Or can anyone suggest a business that can?

I want to make 4x 90mm radius bends in 35mm OD steel pipe with 2mm wall thickness for my Renault Rodeo hood frame.

The van is quite special - it's the rare estate version with rear seats and has all the unmade road options as it was originally sold in Cameroon. Had a new chassis last year too.

I've found a roll hoop manufacturer on the internet who might be an option for the tube bending.

As will have capacity to bend for strut braces/roll cage tubing etc.

Tube Bender Ltd did all the bends for my buggy. IIRC it's £15 per bend. It's four staff working out of a warehouse with CNC equipment.

look on ebay plenty around the £100 mark...
once u have one they will always have work to do.....
be lost without mine.....
had to buy one as nobody close would do my job.....more than paid for it''s self over the years.....
even use it to bend big re-bar.....

The Rodeo wasn't sold in the UK and the French drive on the wrong side of the road. I don't really notice when driving but sometimes I try to get in to it on the wrong side.

I got Tube Bender Ltd to make the hoops. Good price and precisely made to my drawings which had a shallow roll to the tube at the top in addition to the bends.

Had my drawings been right the hoops would have been perfect but I pasted the width dimension into the height dimension and didn't check before sending them off, so the hoops are twice as tall as they need to be. They splay outwards at the sides so I will need to tweak them outwards at the bottom by 40mm when they are cut down. Guessing a bit of care and brute force will do it.

Here we go - it's done. The weird arrangement of tubes is roughly based on photos of other cars. I've found the whole thing very complicated - too many slopes and curves and nothing to reference apart from the new hood so it's taken weeks.



Here it is with the roof fitted. Still a bit to do to get it better tensioned up but it should work out OK.
