trying to butt weld

hi guys hope this is the right place to post this ,if not sorry. i have just started a mini project (lots of rust, lol) and i am having difficulty welding in new panels, i either blow holes in it or the weld just lays in beads on top of the panel . i have a clarke 85enb gasless mig welder it only has high or low setting and a wire speed dial..any advice would be very much apreciated......

From what I've read, low power and slow speed, in a zig-zag motion.

Correct me if I'm wrong? I'm just a young grasshopper too

A few more pointers - gasless burns hotter and so is generally not as good as gas sheilded mig for thin metal. The gas also helps to cool the weld making blow through less likely.

If you haven't already, get an auto helmet so you can use two hands to control the torch properly. It is harder to see whats going on with the weld using gasless wire anyway, and the cheapo masks that come with small DIY sets are generally regarded as useless.

Practice really is the key - you don't mention how much luck or success you've had welding other stuff before but it really does pay to put the hours in on pieces of scrap before tackling a rusty car...
