Trouble in the road today!

My Mums road, a fairly busy country road, has had signs up for 3 weeks saying they are closing it for resurfacing today. This morning when I dropped my dogs off a set of traffic lights were being put up outside her house. Tonight, there is a 1/4 mile of resurfaced road, a 30 yard gap where the traffic lights are and then another mile of resurfaced road.
In the trafic lights the gas board have dug a 2ft square hole outside the house opposite to install gas to it!

Obviously not talking to each other!

Think that's bad, I requested that the shared electric supply be removed from my house, the chap that attended noted the meter head was not within current standards and arranged to have a dual head installed about a week later

A month later they turned up to put a new supply into next door and remove their supply from mine....so if anyone wants a meter head with very little use.....

When I tried to fire up the company boiler after the summer, it wouldn't fire up. I checked the gas valve, went down to the meter outside and decided to disconnect it to see if I had incoming gas. No gas. I called the gas company out and they couldn't understand it. Have you ever had gas they said. Now that was a surprise as There was the gas meter, there were the bills I'd paid and look, a boiler! During the summer, the Chinese restaurant had opened about 50 yards from my building. The idiots had dug down, found a gas main, cut it and diverted it into the restaurant. They knew it was "live" and must be going somewhere but couldn't be bothered to find out where and just cut it.Well of course the cut main was full of all sorts of rubble grit and water after months of being open and had to be replaced. They did try to bill me. That went well for them.

Poor workmanship - again, seems to be a common theme these days.
We had a new front door last friday, old hardwood one was 30 years old, facing the weather etc. Also bought one for my daughters house. It didn't look right, sort of lopsided in the middle. I measured it. The centre horizontal bar was 6mm out of horizontal! And they expected me to pay for it!

Wouldn’t be the first time I’ve seen a recently resurface road being dug up, one in particular was resurfaced in the morning and was dug up in the afternoon less than 3 hours after being finished

I’ve seen that many times, brand new beautiful black top laid, then torn up and crudely repaired for some scheduled replacement that nobody seemed to know about in advance, and you’d think someone would be held accountable for the cost and disturbance and delays, but no, everything just carries on as normal. And guess who covers the costs.
