I thought some sprints only had 5??
.So in the spirit of Diagnosis what occured ?
Other gears all good ? Yes
Gear shift lever not gone limp ? No
Doesn't engage or does and pops out under load ? you can get 6th if the cycle straight through the box, dwell in any gear or 5th it wont go in, feels as if its not there. Neutral is very difficult to get.
Any noises when 6th engaged ? No
Just occured out of the blue or proceeded an event ? See below
Any particular reason the Crank cover came off ? Has to come off to expose bolts holding c/cover on. 3 gaskets![]()
Looks like a Speed Triple.
Don't know about older models but my 2009 Sprint has 6
.
I’ve always used Putoline oil, carried out a major service 1k back. Changed oil to Motul. Within 500mile I it was very hard down the box, neutral none existent. Changed to Shell, a lot better but still cant get 6th (as above) and neutral is difficult. Oil is black, clutch plates are picking up, no wear to friction plates.
Thankfully you can take the selector and dogs out from the oil pan.![]()
Do you put the fault down to changing the oil then? How different is the specs between these oils??
I tried lifting from the wheel, it was top heavy. Just tried around the bar clamps, I can get it high enough but it scares the hell out of me. So I’m going to lay it down, on the nearsideAbba Skylift.
