I've been given the frames to a park bench to try and fix; it came off worst when some idiot ran out of driving ability coming home from the pub so the 3 frames are in lots of bits. The iron looks fairly crappy, so I'm not holding much hope but I'm willing to give it a go. I fancy trying to do it with arc so stainless steel or special cast iron rods and plenty of pre-heating. Should I attempt to 'butter' the repair surfaces before actually doing the repair, or just grind to a shiny surface, align and go?
It looks a bit like this, only with an additional frame in the middle for extra fat people.
