I used conc Nitric Acid....it works eventually.......I cut them below ground level, drilled them, filled the holes with acid and buried them.....Some time later I had a look and they were crumbling......Ive no idea where you could get the acid these daysThis site gives some useful advice.

I’ve used the chemical stuff, applied to holes drilled in the stump. It works but not quick

eBay is the source of most things these days, glycophospate is a controlled weed killer that needs licence permits etc to buy from the agri supplier. eBay just requires payment
Pretty sure that's what we used to use in stumps back when I was in that game.Never heard of that one.

Not much point with conifers they rot pretty quickly once cut and covered.
They were stump ground back last year. Covered in topsoil and seeded. Is there a chance they could be fairly well decomposed by now ?
Still be some remains 3 years the are normally pulp
That should work out ok then when the time comes to dig out for the concrete slab they should be pretty well decomposed by the sounds of it![]()
Am watching this with interest as at some point in the future I will have a very large conifer stump and root system to remove for a concrete slab to go down.
From what I have read so far looks like a combination of hand digging, rigging a winch from some type of ground anchor (no big trees around) and the recip saw are going to be the best weapons.
I was wondering about that but its very big must be 900mm across if not more at the bottom as it goes up it splits into two trees growing together with one angled towards next door the other towards us each must be around 400mm at chest height. I started tacking it down at the begin of the year before my accident. Will have to try and get a picture.Nope stump grinder. Smaller trees sure use a winch.
