im doing a project with some new treated wood cladding , the final finish needs to be solvent gloss , what primer /under coat do i need to look at to help it last as best as possible ?
thanks
thanks
the rest of it is already gloss brown so tied to thatHave a look-at bedec barn paint, just treat the cut ends with a clear wood preservative when building.
get a damp meter for wood and test it. best letting it dry out before any type of coating or you will seal it in defeating the objecti was hoping to treat the ends /edges before install , whats the best way forward then i cant help that modern wood is poor
smooth tongue and groove , i was under the impression a good choice of primer would help extend its life /stop paint peelingBefore fixing/install,you need to dry it out,and really dry it out
You dont need anything special in the way of primer, just loads of slightly thin down coats pref OIL BASED,and allow to dry PROPERLY,you might want to give a little rub down with say a 120-180 grit between coats
You say cladding,like shiplap,T&G etc,sawn or planed?
Again, you dont have to go silly with special paints,(but keep it oil based),its the method on how you apply it counts
