I need a length of left hand thread cutting to replace the feed screw on my milling machine z axis, the original seems to be 24mm x 3mm and is a left handed thread,
I would have rather just bought such a thread ready made, but it seems that non of the regular stockists stock this thread, in fact they only seem to stock 24mm x 5mm
I have little experience of thread cutting and what little I gained was circa 1979,
does anyone know of a stockist that stocks this thread,
does anyone know of anyone up to making this thread for me.
if not, what material should I use, I was thinking of buying a length of inch silver steel, would that be suitable,
this may be a slightly long term project, as I need to build a traveling steady and fixed steady for my Boxford lathe, even to have an attempt, and I am considering upgrading to a slightly bigger model.
