Transmig 140 part ID please

Hi Guys

Here are a few photos of my Transmig 140

It is FULLY working with no falts.
I was just looking inside it today (as I had changed the mains cable) and notised this??

Even though my welder is fully working, now that I have spotted it, I want to indentify what the part is, and what is does
And even may change it to be on the safe side.

any know any thing about it????????

Looks like a 2200microFarad electrolytic capacitor - since it seems to be from RS Components I would suspect someone may have already replaced the original. The 63V means that is the voltage it is rated to withstand (one of 63V or above will do). If it were my machine I would try to check the specification of the original part (assuming I'm right about this being a replacement).

...thinking about it - is that slight burning from this component or is that a residue from before it was replaced?

I'd also check the state of the crimps and verify that the capacitor is connected the right way round.

Hi

If you look at the first few pics, and take note of other turminals/conectors Pluss looking at the wiring togeather with the colour of the tie raps throught out the welder,
I would have to say its a original conponant.

also just to verify what I am saying, one tred down,
some guys has had the larger capasitor go on his BOC mig.
look at his pics and you will see excatly the same small capasitor.

I think you would need a circuit diagram to work that out.

Are any of the other bits in there from RS?

I think the main capasitors are RS (not 100% sure) will check tomorrow
but I can see were your coming from
but honestly, one can tell when there has been medding hands.
all the wiring is un touched.
no one would have gone to the trouble off getting the same colour and thickness/metrial wire, find the same turminals (both ends)
run all the wires in the loom and use same tie raps to make it all look original.

safe to say it was as per new.

My welder works all fine, I just want to get it running that way

Those caps could easily be replaced. Just unplug/unscrew old, and put in new. No need to change wires.

That cap is probably part of the wire feeder circuit.

Makes sence Shenion, small cap = small motor.
Thers not much need for small capasiors other than a wire feed motor.
think your onto some think.

I think he just meant that, just because the wiring is original doesn’t mean the cap hasn’t been replaced.
