Transit wheel arch

A friend of mine has a MK7 Transit camper van, I was talking to him last night in the pub & he said he was having a look around & he poked a bit too hard & found a hole about 12 inches long & about 11/2 inches wide behind the arch. He knew the outer skin was going but this was a bit of a shock. I know the repair panels are available, but does anyone know whether they are outer skins or the complete member or what. He is a very competent welder but wants to know what is involved, so I said I would ask, I’m sure someone on here has done one. I have a MK6 Tranny camper so I shall watch with interest, luckily I sprayed it all when new with BH chassis wax & it’s all good ….. so far.

It is a transit afterall.....

Straight forward to do if you have the outer repair section to give you the line.
As always it comes down to where on the bodge-concours scale is the target.

I have a few rear arches to do in the not too distant future.....
