And the employer will tell you it's the higher speed. Job gets done faster. They won't care, It's not their licenseThere were a good few people on the speed awareness course I attended who had been caught out by driving to car speed limits in a car derived van that was actually taxed as commerical rather than plg. According the guys taking the course, you could have two vans, seemingly identical, parked side by side - but one "commercial" and one "plg" - a question to ask your employer if you don't have a V5 to look at.
I’ve not commented as I had a 04 one which isn’t relevant to the OP. However I agree with the above. Mine was fine for about 6 weeks. Then one day it went “f-u, it’s Tuesday” and it never worked again. For some reason the ECU crapped itself overnight and that was that. It’s a common problem I’m told.Had a connect on hire a couple of years ago.
Faults.
1) carp radio
2) heating either too hot or cold
3) air con made the fuel consumption diabolical
4) reef doors , I think they had been made out of diluted papier-mâché
Positives.
1) erm, it holds stuff in the back,
Major selling point since the very first Transit, everyone ever built can carry an 8 x 4 sheet. Bedford CFs and Leyland Sherpas could, but not flat on the floor. I've had 8 x 4s in both my Transit Connects, with both rear doors shut.I'd go for the smallest van that can take 8x4 sheets. Then it's actually useful as a van...
I can get three metre lengths of bar in my focus estate. If you have a bulkhead in your connect/berlingo/whatever, you can't do that. If you don't have a bulkhead, in my experience the heater can't keep up!Major selling point since the very first Transit, everyone ever built can carry an 8 x 4 sheet. Fiat
They are soooo slow, pulling out on an A road is frightening. We had a brand new one a few years back on hire I loved the twin sliding doors but nothing elseJust bought a Nissan nv200 1.5dci 45+ mpg can get a motorbike in the back, 750kg payload, twin sliders as standard, drives like a car with a higher seating position and doesn’t carry the scene tax like a vw caddy
Not bothered about speed in regards to a van, just wait for a bigger gap at junctions, if I wanted to go fast I’d go in another car, think they’re around 90hp but claim 57mpg, it’s swings and round abouts like everything get the 2.0L of a similar van and get less to the gallonThey are soooo slow, pulling out on an A road is frightening.
