transformer for 12v fan?

no longer gooing to run a fan from the mains and want to run a computer can using a transponder, i know nothing about this so started another subject soley about that subject, sorry if i should have stuck to the original thread.

want to run a fan like this

Yes the transformer will cope with the fan as it can supply up to 1Amp and the fan only needs .08Amp so you could add more fans later.

That would be a good use for one of the many mobile charger he probley has kicking around (if like me he has daughters x 2 = most of the copper in the world !!!! no wonder there's a shortage )

Go with a proper transformer and a bridge rectifier, (with a smoothing cap if you want to get really anal), rather than the phaffy electronic options. The TX will be a damned sight more reliable.

My mobile charger runs at 5.0 volts 0.7 amps but it would probably run a computer case fan, they are usually rated up to 12v but will run on lower voltage through speed controllers to cut noise.

I was going to post on your original thread and suggest you look for 240V computer fans, if you didn't want to find some dc inside the welder.
I have a bank[it's only about 6 but they shift a surprising amount of air] of 240 and 110V computer fans that I use as an extractor, I got the 240V ones
out of DEC servers and the 110V ones came out of a Japanese cnc machine cabinet. They are the normal computer fan makes[well recognisable], the only difference being they are all metal[case/surround and fan]. I would have though you would easily find a 12V source inside the welder. But if you have to buy a transformer you might be better off looking for a mains fan?
