Sounds like you need to hire better sparkies.99.99% of sparkies fall in that category, then have a meltdown if you ask them to wire a Y plan, employed or subbie.
It's why I qualified, so I could do my own jobs from start to finish

I could say the same for ground workers, chippies, plumbers, drywallers, plasterers, painters, brickies, fire/intruder alarm installers, data cablers, shop fitters etc. Plenty of idiot site managers and architects too.
I've worked with them all at one point or another, there was no shortage of numpties to go around.
Also worked with some good ones too - admittedly harder to find. but those are the ones to keep hold of.
A lot of it also depends on the relationship you build with them, and knowing how to get the best out of them.
No different to any other industry really.
