Hi,i recently aquired a old trailor frame witch was a bit worse for ware. so i fixed up the frame with 1/4" angle iron. Made the back gate from scratch witch was my 1st proper peice of actually making and welding from measurements (i was proud of that) but now im at the point of flooring and sides i was thinking of using sheet metal but im not to sure on the thickness as i only have a ARC welder
So my question is what else could i use to hold it in place?
Or what would you guys use?

I prefer wood floors with 5/4 pressure treated boards (5.5" wide):

I used carriage bolts to secure them. I will add expanded steel mesh on the sides later.

Agree with Shenion,
Wooden floors are much better. If you must use sheet metal, pop rivets or self perforating screws (the ones that have a drill like point)
Carrying stuff on sheet metal can be very noisy, specially with all the potholes....

have to agree wood is best ,ive just completed mine i used 18mm phenolic ply which is specially made for trailers

Is it spelt different in Ireland ? I use outdoor grade 1/2" ply for my trailer floor held in with a few roofing bolts but if you put it in before the sides it will hold itself in place. I used T&G for the sides just because it looks nice.

phenolic ply is designed for trailers its waterproof and has a non slip surface normal wood can get slippery take in water and go green
