Trailing arm bush / pin vivario. Bushing removal kits

The dreaded MOT and amongst other things a failure on :

"Suspension arm pin or bush excessively worn Nearside Rear (Trailing arm bush)"


Now there seem to be plenty of kits out there for various vehicles but not for a vivaro unless its a trade level £200 jobby. Now I measured the pussing an the OD looks to be dinner for two with **** view 69mm. Is there any reason one of these universal kits wouldn't work? Something like this?

Looks like I may be able to just drop the arm out deepening on how easy it is to get the pin out.

Have you priced up the complete arm?
Might not be worth messing about with the bush especially if you have to take the arm off to change it..

when i did one i used a slightly modified renault laguna rear subframe bush tool. worked ok. i see no reason why a universal kit wouldn't work. or even some threaded bar and suitable sockets.

From my understanding and from looking under its and entrie sub frame (might not be the correct term).

I did think of that, but I think even my (well my dad's if I go over and borrow the 3/4" drive set) biggest is not 70+mm ID

its not. its a trailing arm solid axle. assuming its a proper vivaro not one of those silly new ones.

2012 so one of the last work horse ones.

I thought I had used wrong term, I thought it was an entire unit, both side and axle together as one.

Yep that's the bushing I just thought the entire assembly of arms and axle was one piece and called a subframe. Terminology

I wouldn’t attempt to press out a 3” void brush in position,far easier and quicker to either cut or burn the rubber out and carefully cut the outer steel casing to relieve tension, they then fall out.pressing new ones in is the easy bit.

yep burn out and a hacksaw on the steel ring as above...easy job to put a new one in with a bit of stud bar or long bolt

It might be an idea to go easy with the heat to burn it out, that flat bar may be spring steel to deal with the roll forces on the whole assembly in use. Drilling holes in the rubber bush and hacksawing the sleeve would be safer.
