Whats the difference between car/van brakes and trailer brakes? Aren't they essentially the same thing but pulled/pushed by a bar instead of cable.

As previously mentioned, trailer brakes need to be auto-reversing, you may get away with single leading shoe brakes though

Peter - You can't build a new trailer using the overrun (Bradley) type hitch, but you can fit one to an old trailer to replace a faulty one for example.
