Trailer ramp ideas ?

Ive been gone for quite a while (but ive learnt to weld etc in that time )

Im trying to come up a design for a pair of trailer ramps for my tilting beavertail trailer but im a bit stuck.

Ifor Williams dont make any compatiable with my trailer so buying any is a no go

Im hoping to get about a 72inch length with an 8inch width. My track car weighs about 1400kg but as ill be using them for other stuff too and the trailer limit is 2600kg id like to future proof myself

Originally I was going to make them out of 2inch angle sides with slats accross every 4inchs but I worked out by the time they were made I doubt id be able to lift them due to the weight !

Someone had advised using Mestec side rails which after googling seem to be industrial building stuff but I have no idea what to order etc

Does anyone have any ideas on what I can use to make them from (and possibly a design) that will give me roughly the sizes I need but at a sensible weight ?

buy a cheap set and reinforce them with Angle iron, cheap, and less work..

I made mine like a ladder. The sides were 50x25x3 box and the rungs were 25x25x3 box. Not too heavy, and strong enough for a loaded transit.

I cant seem to find any cheap ones or id be "adjusting" them !

How did you space your rungs Windy as 25mm does not sound very strong ?

I dont have my trailer here to measure my ramps that i made the other week, but they were not far off 50x25x3 box outer frame, but i used 4 equal lengths of 25x10x2 spaced equal along the ramp and around the edge under a 15mm buffalo board tread. i have had over 2 ton cars on them and fine and not to bad to carry.

mine are 2"x2" angle down each side with 1"x1" angle welded on so the outer corner of the angle is upwards 1" angle is about 1' long by about 6" apart
Have had a power major tractor on them no probs

Why not get some 3mm steel folded into a deep "top hat" profile ? Additional lengths of steel can then be attached the sides to reinforce if necessary.

Well it was donkeys years ago now so I don't remember exactly, but I think it was something like 200mm centres. The ramps were about a foot wide overall, so the 25mm box was about 10" wide. The heaviest load I ever had was a fully loaded commer van, and the ramps were fine.

25 x 3 box should be fine as long as its not too wide.

Sorry about the mixed metric and imperial measurements, but I've not been up long!
