They were OTT with their application form in my view. When it came to them requiring a "video selfie" I decided to stay with Chip.

I use moneybox for my S&S isa though.

its my first time investing , its really easy to buy /sell /add money etc , and any withdrawals to bank have been instant

I stick to low cost index funds in my S&S isa, and deposit about 1.5k every month, no thinking required

Around 10% up this year so far.

I've got a cash ISA with them, best rate I could find. Been good so far although as has been pointed out verification is a bit onerous, but I suppose it keeps the scammers off. Don't rely on it for withdrawals at weekends though, during the week I have found it pretty instant but once past Friday evening I've had to wait until Monday for it to show up in my current account.

I use Trading212 and Investengine.

Both are low cost platforms and both have their pros and cons.

Trading 212 = Cash ISA, Stocks and Shares ISA, general investment account and stocks.

Investengine = Only ETFs, no stocks and also do not pay any interest on uninvested funds.

They are both arguably the two lowest cost investing options in the UK. Fees and charges makes a hell of a difference, especialy over a long period.

If you’re thinking of opening up with them have a look for ‘financial interest’ on yourube and other investment channels (don’t necessarily take their advice) they have affiliate links that often get you a bonus £50 for signing up through their links.

Used them for a punt at Christmas.
Especially as ktm stocks fell through the floor and wanted to jump on the band wagon.

Been happy following and updates etc.

So far only minor dabbles (circa £400 total) but am 20% up since Christmas.

i took advantage and got them when trump was causing trouble and there was a dip , bounced back in a week

What is people's MO for which companies to buy shares in?

I've gone for a few which i know through work where their share price has dipped, or relatively new companies, which I know are on the up (over a long period of course). I suppose these are 'safe' bets.

I suppose the question is what to look for to make the most out of my investment

alot has taken a dip yesterday so buy now at a discount , ive got most of mine on s&p500 its said to be a steady and safe earner , you can look on the app whats the best sellers /most popular etc

Have a look at some ETFs as well as individual company shares, there are management fees involved though.
