Tractor diesel tank repair

i have removed the diesel tank from the tractor to do some work on the gearbox and it has developed a leak:

So how to repair, I think mig will just make things rapidly worse, I’m thinking braze but will filling the holes be ok or should I braze a small patch over?

If you dont want to weld it get some blind rivets and rivet a plate over the hole on a smear of araldite , needs to be spotlessly clean and degreased . Done this on a stabbed plastic tank and it has held up for years.

Solder some brass sheet or a bit of a tin can.

I had a Corsa sump with similar and I gas welded the holes with a Portapak oxy acetylene kit.

i Did think solder, but ware the holes are is ware the tank bolts against the rear mudguard, but with a little plate over should be ok.

could go with a plastic metal option, tank repair from frosts. If you wait a week I shall be home with some BLEZONA you could try.

Thanks for the offer, but I really need the tractor going again. It’s been out of action for a couple of weeks now and I have stuff piling up all over.

clean well up and soft solder a patch on it . tin the tank and then the patch re flux and sweat together. I had to fix a leak on a full 5 gallon drum of petrol tipped sideways on I just used a large soldering iron heated with the gas ring

All fixed, tried the soft solder but it wouldn’t take due to all the crap comeing out the holes so I got impatient and flooded some braze over and it seems to have done the trick.

Unfortunately I forgot to get a picture before refitted the tank.
