track rod bolt and nut both turning

I am putting a new set on and the bolt and nyloc nut are both turning. What is the best way to get this job done? There appears to be no flat area on the collar of the bolt bit that I can get a spanner on ?

Many years since I did this particular job, im sure I used to know how to do this. Must be old age creeping up on me

I usually apply some upwards pressure with a jack to seat the joint and overcome the resistance of the nyloc.

Load the taper with a bar

Jack it up to hold it on the taper then undo the nut

Do you mean the taper on the track-rod end is turning as well as the nut? If so put more pressure under the track-rod end to force it tighter into the taper, Using a jack or lever etc,That usually cures the problem you are having.

Cheers chaps, yes a bit of pressure did the trick. Im sure if id done this job only five years ago id have remembered that. You wouldn't believe I used to work in a garage would you.

As posted by everyone above - you need to force the tapered section together so it provides enough resistance to allow you to undo the nut. Either with a bar, balljoint separator, g-clamp, jack, whatever you have to hand...

You need the number off the radio if it starts Mo I can get the code

ball joint/track rod end-- occasionally there is an allen key hole in the bottom of the taper to help stop whats happening to you, filled with years of gunge and rust.-- have a double check.

Are you pressing 5 after you entered the code..If so what error comes up
