Its NOT a rule. They are normally around the 2.8t mark so you’d be fine with the p38
what you need to know is the Max Train Weight of the Range Rover ie truck plus trailer. In all honesty without digging into the plates I think you’d be fine. In Range Rover terms that’s a small trailer and as long as you don’t get stupid loading it you’ll be under.
there’s an area whereby the towing vehicle is plated to tow the same weight as itself (100%) and the rules say you should only tow up to 80% (I think it’s 80 without looking it up) which caused confusion for a while. I believe it’s now been resolved as the plate is the over ruling factor. I looked into this as my ranger was plated to tow 3.5t which is why I bought it
A guy I worked with sold an old Jag Mk10, the buyer turned up with a car trailer behind a VW Golf!, after a bit of discussion he loaded the VW onto the trailer and towed it away with the Jag
No that was a new (old) one on me.you not seen that before? thought that was a towing safety course staple![]()
Yeah but you have got 'agri' on your sideI tried to resist commenting but now can’t.
My philosophy…… if I can get it on the trailer without breaking the trailer, if I know I can get from A to B with whatever towing vehicle I have. I Just do it.
Not sure shouting "agri" as your over-loaded un-braked trailer drags your under-maintained elderly tractor backwards down a steep hill, rolling over and flattening you, helps much . . .Yeah but you have got 'agri' on your side![]()
As comes up on many threads, sense doesn’t appear to be all that common! Not sure shouting "agri" as your over-loaded un-braked trailer drags your under-maintained elderly tractor backwards down a steep hill, rolling over and flattening you, helps much . . .
You can see why they try to bring in regs and penalties, rather than rely on the public's "common sense" . .
Ha ha…. You’ve been stalking us. Just once or twice, not on elderly poorly maintained kit though….Not sure shouting "agri" as your over-loaded un-braked trailer drags your under-maintained elderly tractor backwards down a steep hill, rolling over and flattening you, helps much . . .

Thanks can you enlighten me?You might also need to consider tacho rules & Operators licences.
Not all 4x4's are exempt.
Once you have a plant trailer you will need the plant to go on it, and find you end up with lots of friends wanting freebies.Well the deed is done
Bought a twin Axel plant trailer, needs a few bits and bobs doing but it was a good price the seller knew it needed some work and it was well priced to allow for this, tows well but will be better once I have a drop plate on the Range Rover so all the wheels touch the floor!
Even got some one viewing my old one tonight!
