Tow jaw pin problem

First time towing with a pin hitch. Rated at 3500kg. Wasn't a cheap one. Bought years ago but only ever used the ball. Towed my.new trailer. Lightly loaded all up weight about 2 tons.
Drove about 400 miles. Took the scenic route home through the Peak District. Snake pass and a few more challenging roads. Ranger/Amarok pulled like a dream. Trailer awesome.
When I went to release the pin it would only come out half way. Had to get another pin underneath and use a trolley jack to push it out.
Pin jad a bit of a groove in it and a burr.
Is this normal?

No that's not normal.

We tow up to 13 tons with a tractor or manitou, never seen anything like that.

I think the ring has to be a close match to the pin so if the ring is too big it can damage the pin.

i had a ring and pin on my van .a bit noisy because the rings on the stuff being towed are a sloppy fit

Seen that before, its bind from having a big ring running in a small jaw. Rather than the ring passing behind the pin on a turn it binds up.

This sounds dodgy.

Ours is a big ring, well sloppy, steel pin on the rear of the tractor, stainless pin on the front, no issues at all.

£585 but they often go for £2000. Never seen one going at that price. Missing a few fingers but 1.5m worth there. I can always make some more.
