Just to throw a little extra ingredient into the mix...
Have you considered using low voltage LED lamps instead? It'll save you many headaches.
My partner is a ceramic artist and she sometimes makes pieces which are internally illuminated (translucent ceramics). This was fine when she was making pieces solely for exhibition but once people wanted to buy them the electrical safety issues had to be considered. Having weighed up the many requirements, I decided to go with 12V "brick" power supplies (like laptop chargers) and stick to 12V led lamps.
If you went down this route, the earthing of the lamp would be unnecessary.
