Being a tool tart, a birthday coming up soon, and having a decent sized joinery job on the go, and with recommendations from the fine chaps on here, i thought i would treat myself to a Tormek T4 to sharpen wood chisels, plane blades and drill bits and so on.
Bought the machine along with the 'flat blade' chisel jig. Opened it all up tonight and impressed with the kit. Well built, clear instructions, nicely made and even a small pack of plasters with it.
I've already watched a couple of YT vids on how to set up so with a quick flick through the book set it up tonight with no bother. Switched on and its all pretty solid. Set a chisel up very quickly using the jig supplied, filled the water (three times, that wheel is thirsty) and set it off.
Hmm. The wheel is not true, noticed by a 'bobbing' of the tool. Google reveals this is a fairly common problem. They do a wheel dresser which runs along the fixed tool jig bar, but lots of people suggest this doesn't fully resolve the problem.
Fired off an email to the UK contact and we'll see what happens. Consigned to the corner for the moment.
Will update, I'm off to the garage to get me clock.
