In my opinion , if there are two sizes I would say that the handle would be the same surely ? false economy to make them different wouldnt you say ?

dont know, but looking at the first photobucket pic, they do seem like the old ones had two size handles,

I would guess the LED pad part of the handle is the same, but the body the panel fits into might be bigger.

I cant get absolutly NO info from Lorch, shocking really!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didnt buy the tig set from mat.
i am happy to wait, only the dealer who sold it me is (1) miles away, and (2) is only going to order the torch that I ask for,

dont think he wants to order two just so I can choose.

And its this, its the latest New lorch, as a package, it comes with the basic lorch torch.
For a few extra pounds, I can have the new torch.
I am not buying it outright.

To say you only go to yr tig to turn it on and only return to turn it off implys to me that its a older tig set.
I don't make the tig, I am just buying it.

So why not have it, I bet you in only a few years to come, my new tig set will be surpast with much better all Singing all dancing tig sets.
That's just the way of the world.

My point was its not gonna make you a better welder, I have seen a pic of it already and i don't like the switch position, its too far down the handle to keep it all steady, my hand is almost covering the torch head when i'm working.

OK. The Handle will be the same. It is the threaded fitting that is different for WP26 heads.

Have a look here, I cut up a head so I could use a a WP9 on a WP26 handle.

I don't think you will be able to do that with a lorch. Get the smaller one and be done with it.

I would have said that the torch with the controls is very specifically designed for certain apps. For instance- welder inside a tank/pipe or high up where he can't bring the plant with him.
Merkle had a similar system (TEDAC) on their synergic mig units and 8mtr push pull torches.

Piero, I did explain when we spoke that the iTorch doesnt officially launch mid March, hence the lack of info on the Website. Also, I think you mis-understood about how Lorch UK works, it is a wholley owned subsidary of Lorch GmbH (the factory in Germany) and our route to market in the UK is via distributors. Trueweld who you bought the machine off, are one of our distributors and order from Lorch Germany via me. Not that any of that matters anyway, I would like to thank you for your business, you wont regret your purchase

Regarding the torch, the handle for the WP 9, WP 17 and the water-cooled WP 20 type all have the same size smaller handle. The WP 26 and water-cooled 1800 SC are in the larger handle.

The PC Board/7 segment display remain the same size in any of the torches.

I am one of them guys who likes to route around, gather all the info thats out there.

I made my purches through Trueweld NOT just because of price (but they were the cheapest) but simply because I got on well with Derrick.
