Hello,
A while ago I bought an Avalon Cut 40 and am very pleased with it and it all seems to work well. I can't find anything about it on the web, although it looks broadly similar to other Cut40's - anyone know of a more commonly named model?
However, the torch has been round the block and could do with replacing although it was functioning ok until just now when it suddenly wouldn't cut very well: not sure if it stuck & something melted, or if there is excess humidity or what. On unscrewing the head, I noticed the O ring had snapped, but have no way of telling whether that happened as I unscrewed it, or blew out? The torch suddenly seemed to lack cutting power and the jet was broader. Presumably they're special O rings?
It doesn't look like a PT31, from what I've seen and is a basic scratch start. I measured the components of the torch and some of them are close to the values given on Plasmapart's website - I'm not sure if they're close enough.
Previous threads on here suggest a sg55 or Trafimet s45 clone for (cut 40) cutters with a PT31 torch. Would either of those do for this?If I replace the torch, how is this likely to be attached, and is a replacement likely to attach in the same way?
Most of the suppliers don't seem to list torches, just consumables - the only place that I've found so far is Plasmapart who have the PT31 and SG55 torch only. Anywhere else, or is that as good as any. I saw an "S45" on ebay, but it was coming from China and I'm on a bit of a tight deadline now, as practising with getting the templates right took longer than I hoped.
Many thanks
