Hi guys & gals,
I've just been given a SIP Topmig 150 Turbo as a 'spares or repair', along with most of a 5kg 0.8mm reel and a half full pub gas bottle.
The guy was having all the usual wire feed problems - didn't want to bother with mods and just went out and bought a new one - nice for some!
I've determined that the swan neck liner has had it.
I've taken the torch apart and removed the neck - wire feed is ok until I put the neck liner over the wire and shape it, then it stalls.
I'm going to replace that and the main liner (currently plastic), but here's my question;
The 0.8mm slot on the feed roller is serrated and is marking the wire with tiny burrs even on a fairly light tension and I think that is compounding the feed problems through the liners. Is this normal? The 0.6mm slot is a plain groove.
On my main machine, a Migatronic Rally 166, both the 0.8 and 0.6 slots are plain grooves.
Cheers,
Robin.
