I spoke to Brian may on the phone to arrange having a windscreen replaced and think I've still got a copy of his insurance certificate with named driver Anita Dobson on it.
Also fitted a windscreen in Joanna Lumleys car,a clapped out Granada iirc.

A friend of mine was Madame Cherlais (not sure of spelling) in the Wombles.

I know somebody else who was a Womble. He said they just dressed in whatever costume was nearest and had a laugh. His full time / day job was as a junior journalist and the Womble thing was just to provide somebody, anybody, for the costumes when on TOP etc.

Not rock star but footballer - Sir Stanley Matthews ! My late father in law was an avid golfer and his partner was Sir Stan's brother - Ron. When he was over in the UK he played golf with them. He kicked the ball for the world cup then signed his own program and sent it to my son (who still has it) inscribed "to my mate Jake". He also sent a load of period books, comics, programs etc all signed another time. Loveley chap.

My daughter and her friends happened to be passing a church in Harpenden when Harry Judd from McFly was getting married. A picture of them among other spectators ended up in Hello magazine.

My wife spotted Tony Hadley (Spandau Ballet singer) whilst shopping in Harpenden.

Forgot one. My friend Mike who sadly is no longer amongst us made a R/C model for Joe Perry from Aerosmith and delivered it in person.

Back in '84 I changed our shop in Albufeira to a bar. A sort of exit stratergy for my business partner (who went to school with Lauren Bacall). Bonnie Tyler used to come in and drink occasionally. This is tenuous as I was never in the bar when she was. Our barman, Paul, was something of a humourist...When a punter wispered to him 'Is that Bonnie Tyler' he said 'Yes and that is Fred Blogs (or some name) next to her. So the idiot was convinced he had met (almost) two famous people.

Drift.. Another punter came in and thought he had seen a hedgehog by the road. Yes, said Paul, we have two sorts. Punter ' Two sorts? I thought there was only one type. Paul ' Yes, the spiky round sort and the round flat ones you see on the road' The look on the guys face as he digested this was worth u-tube(so I am told)

My first car had been owned by the guitarist in Fairport Convention.
Working at Glasto, sitting around our campfire with Hazel o'Connor.
Another time John Peel stopped by outside our site and had a chat with me mate.
The best story I have is a lass I know well, at a dinner party, asking the bloke sitting next her if he played a musical instrument. He said he could play a bit of guitar, they spent much of the rest of the evening singing songs.
The next day, her pal (the host of the party), popped round with a CD for her. It was by the bloke. She'd never heard of him, of course. It was Paul Weller.

In my previous life (Civil Service - Revenue Officer for H M Inspector of Taxes) I used to interview all kinds of people and didn't make any difference to me whether rich and famous or "ordinary man in the street" I treated everybody with they same respect. Best was a famous footballer who had his WAG come in first to ensure he went straight to a private room. I had no idea who he was (played for England) and don't like football so we got on great talking about all sorts of other things after sorting out his little problem.
