How does ever1 feel towards these to stores?

The final answer for me is toolstation.
Because I've been working over Xmas I emailed toolstation and screwfix to get there opening hours as could not find on there web site. Anyway toolstation replayed the following day. Screwfix I am still yet to hear!

They both serve a purpose.. But I wouldn't buy power tools from toolstation.

Every time I go to screwfix and need a couple of something they only ever seen to have 1 of them. I think they try and stock to much variety so cannot carry as much stock

Here, Toolstation and Screwfix are within 2 doors of each other. When needing something, I look in both catalogues to compare prices and quality. Sometimes Screwfix win, sometimes Toolstation.

9 times out of 10, Toolstation will have an item in stock when Screwfix fails in this area....quite often.

If you add your stuff to the basket and then hit print you get a wee code. The person at Toolstation then can enter it and it brings your basket up. Really quick and easy.

On the cover of the Tool station catalogue is a contact phone number. I ring this for stock enquiries of specific stores, opening times etc and have always found the staff very helpful indeed. They have even given me the contact details (phone numbers) for their suppliers plus the suppliers stock ref for the item in question if I have wanted further details on a product in the catalogue. Superb all round.

I have no comments to make about Screwfix as I rarely use them.

i dont like b and q ive only ever been in there 3 times in my life and that was 3 to many. but i had to eat pie and go there to get a chain for my saw on a sunday and pay 7 quid over the odds for it

Screwfix opened a branch on a nearby industrial estate, so I order online and by the time I get there (about 5 mins) it's ready for collection.

I have always found Screwfix very helpfull, they are very good, they will swap faulty kit out without question and they are cheap - odd when they are part of B&Q! I haven't used tool station so can't comment.

Toolstation were started by the same family behind Screwfix, as the legend goes they opened up immediately the non compete clause with Kingfisher/B&Q expired. This time around they sold up to Travis Perkins/Wickes

Personally i'm not a fan of either but there's not much choice if you want/need something now... between them and the internet all the decent hardware stores around my way have closed their doors or resorted to selling cheap tat to try and stay alive. Same deal with car bits except it's hellfrauds and eurocrapparts that have muscled all the the smaller independants out

toolstation staff are a bit more helpfull if u dont know exactly what u want screwfix just say dunno if u dont give them a number

Euro flipping Car Parts... don't get me started. Trafford Park have the most useless, unhelpful staff ever. You can stand at that counter for 20 minutes before anyone asks if they can help you. Meanwhile a dozen staff will be wondering from the office to the stockroom.

If you reserve something it takes them 30 minutes to go get it. You could machine yourself the car part quicker than they can find the thing you've reserved. Surly with it n'all.

Tool station in Trafford Park I have always found quite helpful and usually a little cheaper than Screwfix, though Screwfix have far wider stock.
