I dont use my 9" grinder often because it's loud and I don't have any hearing protection but far from fearing it, I actually enjoy using it when it's needed.
Has anyone tried welding with their non-dominant hand?
Firstly I can't believe you have no hearing protection, its cost peanuts. My dad warned me and I didnt listen, now I have a job to.
I can feed rod better opposite hand, but cant control the torch as well in my other

Scary, and I have the scars but still chuckle when I see one and think of Chunkolini doing the dance of death with an escaped grinder!
That is the one tool I never use without eye (preferably face) protection. They are seriously nasty, and it can take a day or two to remove all the wires left in clothing.
Ooh, I bet that hurt! Did you seek medical attention?
its not the tools that scare me, I appreciate the damage they can do.......its when you read the instructions that I get scared, as most seem to indicate that nuns and kittens will die if you use the tools. One of my worse injuries was a paper cut from the instructions of a table saw.....it nearly amputated my finger
I have learn to ignore instructions and now just file them away......
Mine end up in the bathroom. Got to past time some how.
Mind you, it does make it easier to work out why it went wrong.
also can be used if you if you run out of toilet paper.
