Old classic them...just never leave them on the floor extended. some fool steps on them and puts a slight bend in the spirel

Or slip when doing up a screw and slice a groove out of the wall you could hide a water pipe in

The big one was a 131 or 131a from what I recall.

Got one of them, used it a lot before electric screwdrivers came out.

i used to cut screwdrivers and put the shaft in drills, along with many others i bet.

Last time I used one was for clipping a pipe too the outside of a ten story building in London, we were in a cable-suspended work platform. Push like hell to get the screws in and then the cradle would come crashing back into the building

I just remember them as Stanley Yankee screwdriver no… the 131 was the biggest, that’s what I’ve got in the shed. I can’t go out at the moment & look for more details as I’m stuck in the house withe a knackered back!

They do, plus the addition bits. C/sunks, nut spnners. Finding them is the issue.
I contacted Stanly last year for information and they gifted me 6 for MIS.

I got one from a scouts jumble sale thing a while back, very good nick and was 50p I think.
I then got a multiple holder shank for it from ebay that uses modern screwdriver bits, so not limited to the original bits which seem hard to get and expensive for what they are.
I've also got one of the big size 131? in my rough tools box that I've had since the 80s.

Machine Mart did a petrol drill along the lines of a Ryobi ( i once had 8 of these curing my fettish)...anyway @bourbon any info on the dis-continued petrol drills
