I'm a machinist I can die everyday at least my family will know the value and if they want to sell everything they'll know the value

Values change, I keep a list of tools without prices, but its not extensive, and the question is how granular do you go? Do i put Veto bags on it? what about all the new contents?

I've always been a "the right too for the job" man.

Years back I spent a fair bit on Ford Diagnostics kit but that had proven to have save £1000's on repairs.

Home DIY wise a good selection of power tools etc, bought good quality gear and they have all earned their keep.

The amount of people you see destroying expensive parts for the sake of a £50 tool is mi d boggling to me.

Welding kit has to be the best investment I've made, especially now my wife's bought a rotten Transit camper lol!.

Still need to get my **** in gear and build my dream workshop in the back garden..

Tool aquisition disorder is something that many of us have & many of those go about it the wrong way. Its like going to the "Shiny shop" lots of manly things designed & marketed to be irrestistable.
It happens with fishing gear, Guns, any male hobby. But it doesnt make you any better. The truth is the man making the shiny tools in China is the winner & he doesnt care if it falls apart ten minutes after you switch it on.
Then there are some of us who like good tools & are not suckered by the shiny shop. Rather we see something in a skip or scrap heap, battered but old & honest & of high quality, those are the tools i cant resist, because they have history.
As i get older I find i get better at finding them or is it the other way round?

I've suddenly had loads of junk psychology AI slop that looks like the same as this from various channels popping up on my YouTube channel over the past week. I lost interest very quickly.

They are finding us because they need to be saved.
All my big industrial tools are at least 40 years old, my lathe is closed to 70
My YouTube channel is about restoring and repairing good quality tools most of them are 30 and older
A shame I don't get too many views cause that makes me feel like my channel is useless

I can never resist old tools at boot fairs, jumble sales, charity / junk shops wherever, despite the fact I've got so much stuff I'll never prob use again.
No doubt it's a psycho malarkey thingy...
