on a similar subject to the spanners.......
I found a v/nice stainless rollaway toolbox, similar to the Snap on variety BUT at £600,
still cheaper tha the S-O variety.......
but when I looked at the necc. plastic trays for the spanners, sockets etc it all got a bit much.......could find a better use for the money......a few milling tools and an 230mm Evolution circ saw for plate work for a start......
so made this over a long week end.......not as pretty but hey ho.......top is hinged and the drawers are 3/4 plywood plus the whole thing is on wheels......
the Halford's tool box only keeps the sockets in and the delicate tools etc that need extra protection........
must have a tidy up......has anybody got a flat spot that's not full of stuff........??????????

A Tool box chest of drawers I restored for a friends dad.

It was coated in 5 layers of paint. Plus someone had glued on old newspaper to "Fix" some rot and impact damage.

So I machined down some modern timber to an imperial size, cut out the rot and made good some damage.
Some damage I left as it was the history of the tool drawers.



But there is at least 1square feet of flat space.

my ceiling is 5meter's up, it's a barn.......have a mezzanene floor tho that's a bit, well a lot clutered........hahaha.......
all will change when I move tho.........

Chaos atm.
Contents off my van was dumped in there last month and never recovered. Chucked stuff around to get the newly acquired bench in today. Not helped by my shed needing organising again so stuffs migrated into the garage. Cant lift the mill till I've cleaned it too.
Time as always is my issue.

Up early and pulling most of the stuff out. Lathe and mill going against the rh wall. Steel bench roller cab and butchers table where the lathe and mill are now and shelves between the machines. Should work better.

Bought a box of 24 cheap last year usually find a few stuck to the sides of the van.
Will work well with the Metal shelving on the new bench too.

Same here. Even have a rack type thing on there where I've shoved all of my leadscrews.

On the plus side though, I can walk, (not clamber), from one side of the workshop to the other at the moment. It'll not last long.

Just think....if you have twice the size workshop, you would still not have any floor space, its an expansion phenomenen.

I have regular clear outs as that would drive me mad.

Good start today. A lot of head scratching and changes to plans but I recon this will work.
Mills just tucked in a gap for now.
Welder will slide in next to the mill when its in place.
Got a load of 100x50 box from the pool i removed to fab a stand. Il bolt it to wall and floor once leveled.

Miracles. Ive got empty shelves.
Feel a selling spree coming soon.
