Out of interest could you not lay on your front or side and weld it with an LED torch for guidance

I’m well versed in left or right hand welding and even using a piece of wood to press the trigger to reach around exhaust and suspension components

I had one job like that where I had to crawl into a tight void a new the only way out was the way I had got in which was tight. Ended up putting my MP3 player on with some relaxing music to help keep me calm. Also my business partner is always on hand when I'm in spaces like that.

My right hand man , Wiggles...who if he had the experience or knowledge would have been in there doing the bloody job ! I drink coffee, do paperwork and have good ideas , I am old..er , inflexible, twice his size ...the next time he goes in !!!

When i was working at Thames marine one of the blokes was gelling out an anchor locker with flowcoat, now the locker on the mirage 28 was triangular & very deep, he left the deepest bit until last then fell in head first. We were just coming out of the bogs for tea break & his oppo was struggling to pull him out by the ankles. Couple of lads jumped up there to help pull him out. Of course wet gelcoat is very slippery & the styrene fumes are awful so you can imagine the state he was in when he finally got out!

I had another gas locker job to do today on a narrow boat. It was one of the tightest ones I've had to get in for a while.

not a snowball’s chance in hell i’d fit my shoulders through that gap to do the welding. then there’s my chest.

i’d probably have to set up the gopro For viewing with my phone and then somehow use my toes to work the welder. not particularly easy.

I certainly do as it takes my body a day to recover after the contortionists workout.

How does having two of you in there help?

Now that would be cosy if he fitted in aswell no he cannot fit through the opening so he is outside the boat to hand me required items of trim steel I need. We have walkie talkies with us aswell so if he is sorting something else I can easily contact him.
