Thought I'd better dust off the Rehmann tig and have a bash as I haven't really used it for tig since I bought it. Bear in mind that I have had no tig tuition whatsoever and the sum total of my tig welding ever is probably something in the region of 4 hours tops (so be gentle )
Here's a fillet weld, 5mm horizontal plate, 4mm vertical plate, 1.6mm filler (cos that's all I've got at the mo), 2.4mm tungsten and about 125A. I started off a bit low on current and you can see where I upped it.
Lap weld, 5mm, 5mm, same parameters but I think I turned the current down just a tad. Filler is way too small for that size plate which is why it doesn't completely fill the area and why the 'rings' are very close together. The Rehmann has no slope controls hence the end craters.
Then I got a bit adventurous and had a go at 'walking the cup', again, nowhere near enough filler but it was just an experiment to see how it worked really. Not being able to rotate the workpiece as you weld makes it a bit awkward too but I managed to just about avoid any major touchdowns .
A fair bit of undercut on this one .
So........what do you think apart from I need more practice and some bigger diameter filler rods?
