Been out today, one of the items was a new large 60cm wall clock. Plenty of choice if you are looking for 'Shabby Chic' or 'Distressed', some look like they have been in the sea for a year. "It's what customers are mainly looking for" the retailers say, some priced at well over £100. Will keep looking

Do you have a Poundstretcher near you? They do a 50 or 60cm clock for £13 or £15 (if I remember rightly, didn’t measure it). Also a store called The Range do them, both sans shabby chic, I’m pleased to say.

It’s the same with the whole “industrial” look that fancy bars go for. Did architectural steel for wine bars etc when I first moved down here and the amount of times stuff came back with a note saying it needed to look rougher was unreal. People paying more for it to look like Stevie wonder slapped it together

Usually, a run round places like Dunelm, B&M, Wilko's, Quality Save, The Range etc.will yield something. Avoid the fancy places & just go for the bog standard places.

Tried The Range today as passing, not much choice if you don't want as stated, nothing local to us There are, of course others, but choice very limited. We are not going to get much for sub £30+ don't mind paying up for something decent, will keep looking, one will appear. Point was really about the taste people are getting catered for.

General fashion, the in-thing & the like are usually naff. A lot of people are so easily led, and constantly being convinced what they like rather than actually knowing what they like. Most of the tat they sell these days, I wouldn't give house room.

We're out on limb really for choice in Brid. Need to travel for anything unusual, Hull, Leeds etc.

We've got one of the black ones from Ikea that @Burdekin posted a link to in our kitchen, it looks nice (none of that shabby ****e rubbish) and it keeps really accurate time, been up a couple of years and it's still on the same battery.

I got dragged round a furniture showroom today, which was mainly full of settees and dining table sets, with a sideline of expensive beds (£4000+) thrown in for good measure.

It was quite a big place (around 4500 sq ft or more) and not one of the national chains you see advertising on the tv.

No word of a lie, everything was either dull brown or grey.

I reckon if you put some camo gear on, you could hole up for a good few days before anyone noticed you.

I do love those clocks, but the Scot in me keeps thinking my god, I could buy another veg tan shoulder for that, or I could get something nice for the hut.

Or eight large clocks out of Poundstretcher.

Anyway, I have a clock on my phone.

(Still like them, though.....)
