Are those a few 'spare' bits on the bench ? (Not that I'd ever have any following a rebuild..)

No, that's stuff to go on/in when it's back in the frame. Things like the water pump, thermostat and so on make it a little awkward to slide the engine in, and they're also quite fragile so even a little knock can cause problems.

Similar to buying a boat, the two best days are when you buy and sell it, the bench will only be empty twice!

Meanwhile, l had to Mot this BMW yesterday. Full marks for ingenuity, l think it's tile adhesive. (Still had to clear the drivers view to acceptable standards though, stickers, a phone holder and dangling shizzle that included a pencil holder with tassle.)

That Yamaha engine went in like a dream, even the combined swing arm/engine mount pivot just slid in.

I bought this big screwdriver as an apprentice in 1985 for doing Scammell and Leyland 8 legger shackle pins. It's as useful now as it was then, but I'm glad I don't have to do those anymore!

Finally fitted the ABE discs to the refurbished Saxon Racing wheels from the '80s. I had the split rims polished so that they looked 'nice' but preserved some of the patina to show they've been used.

Rotax 2T crank (out of a Can Am) getting a rebuild.
Always mildly irritating that it takes longer to set up the puller & press than it does to strip it once you have.

it was just to practice really, cut a bit of box and glue it back together, cap it and glue it to a bit of plate.
