African or European?
Answering with that question proves that it's a valid test IMHO. No need to jump into the gorge of eternal peril though, all parties just go about their day. Much simpler and far less costly than digital ID.African or European ?

Perhaps I should start a petition on the Gov't website?
Just for setting up, although I suppose one could be left in place if someone wanted to do that. Are you going to use this just for setting up carbs or on a finished bike?
African or European ?
Nah, that'd be penguins....
Australian ! I think they flew south for winter .
Out of interest, how will you align the fuel level with the 'pip' that you will need to remove ?Just for setting up, although I suppose one could be left in place if someone wanted to do that.
I was looking at all sorts of fuel/ethanol resistant adhesives to bond the glass. Then it struck me that I can use any suitable adhesive, and put a thin bead of fuel resistant sealant over the joint. So I've ordered a 33 mm dia lens to sit inside the 35 mm recess which will allow a protective bead to be applied without sticking out into the float chamber.
On the third pic you can see the remains of the scribed lines. One from ech screw hole that intersected at the pip before I removed it.Out of interest, how will you align the fuel level with the 'pip' that you will need to remove ?
The tube system is easier......On the third pic you can see the remains of the scribed lines. One from ech screw hole that intersected at the pip before I removed it.
Once the glass is in I can redraw the lines and mark the intersect on the glass.
I'd say to hook up yes, but in use no.The tube system is easier......
There's another factor to take into account when you're running a business in the modern world too, social media. Which makes a better photo?

Plus, to be a member of this forum, using the simple solution is not an option and a 20 page thread would get you bonus points![]()

Transparent tube helps a lot.....I'd say to hook up yes, but in use no.
With the glass there's no holding/clipping a tube and then checking levels across, one glance at the glass and you're done. The other advantage to the glass is if the float chamber is flooding you can see where from because it isn't always the float needle. It also allows you to see the flow rate in, and how much the level drops when running which you can't do with a tube on the pilot. You can use a cover with a supply tube on, I have one here but either way you have to swap the cover so it saves no time or faff.

It's what I use for down draught carbs, and it's a PITA. Fortunately making a sight glass for the Amals is simple and also a 'one & done' job.Transparent tube helps a lot.....
