So the Kettenrad project is still in the back of your mind then?

I'd like to do it, but I don't think it'll happen to be honest. It's a lot of work which I don't really have the time for, and with more pressing projects to sort even if did find the time that'd be a long way off. I really really need to make a concerted effort to start clearing stuff out rather than keeping stuff that I'll never get round to.

So the plan is to get the engine running, then sort the electrics, have the hood resprayed, tidy up the tub and running gear, then reassess. Or, get it running and mobile under its own steam and move it on at that point.

The latter option sounds much simpler.

Well the starter motor's long overdue a clean out. This is fairly typical of a motor that's been used, and then left to stand for a long time. Grease and dust combine to form a dielectric 'glue'.

The clean up and bring back to life continues, hopefully it'll be firing up over the weekend (possibly next week )

A 48 year old Tillotson (Ohio, USA) HR carburettor is a bit of a rare bird in the UK.

The seized and rather crusty pull start mechanism needed some attention. The cord had become part of the pulley.
