That's not maintenance.

Maintenance would be inspecting and sorting out in mid-July.

That's "oh shi te, sort it, quick . . . "

For me this is the time to do it just when it's being called into action for winter period. No point servicing in summer and then letting it sit for a few months until being used IMO.

Id say at least 70% of people
here don't service their heating systems annually or at all until it breaks down every few years

My workbench- these were tool lockers my brother made for me nearly 20 years ago.

I gave them a clean down and fresh coat of black paint before mounting my recently restored vice on top

Well it's not finished yet but started yesterday and continued today after borrowing a neighbours ball joint splitter.

What started out as an investigation into where the air was leaking from on the RR air strut turned into a bit more...

The culprit was found

New (old but cleaned up actually) O ring installed

However in the attempts to get the airbag off the driveshaft popped out at the diff. There was also a bush that was knackered so I needed to get the lower control arm off (hence the ball joint splitter).

Some heat, penetrating oil, splitter and BFH finally saw the ball joint off. Typically the ABS sensor has got broken in the process as well so it made more sense to take the whole hub off especially as I need to do that to try and reseat the driveshaft.

So success 5 minutes ago...

And the bastard assembly on the bench...

Now of course I've got most size of sockets except 12 point 34mm 12 point. Oh and a torque wrench to go up to 410Nm... Pinched Dad's for doing the crank bolts on the JCB engine thinking 360Nm would be enough for most jobs then less than 24h later need another step up.

The lower arm with bush isn't dear I don't think but I decided to see what would happen in the press. So far it's not failed to deliver best £100 I ever spent thanks to @dieselsamurai many years ago.

Now whether that curiosity will extend to making some tooling out of this lump from @hotponyshoes I'm not sure...

The saga will continue...

Definitely worth the money. Even found out it has a 700bar enerpac ram in it. Need to sort out some new hoses and stop it dripping a little bit once in a while but it keeps on doing it's job.

Done some stupid stuff with it and has always delivered so far. Just need to make some decent tooling and perhaps some more spacers for it.

I gave it its first oil change. Genuine Kranzle German made oil. The old oil was black/ grey so it benefited from it being changed. Best tool I ever bought, worth every penny.

The Kranzle isn't heated no. It's just a super quality (possibly best available) pressure washer I use for my cars.

German made and built like tanks at that! Pro quality stuff.

I do have Lavor pressure washers too which have hot function like this one which is subject of another thread

Does it not damage the paint...?

The Kranzle cold washer? No it's got a good variable fan etc and fully adjustable. Any detailer will normally have Kranzle washers which is a testament to their quality.

Used with snow foams and pre treatments etc it's better for paint than straight hand washing.

The Lavor hot washers heat the water to 90c. If used incorrectly or the car had weak paint to begin with then yes it could damage the paint. But the water is also temperature adjustable.

I mainly use the Lavor for car engine block degreasing, car underbody washing and cleaning masonry etc around my house. It is highly effective at removing thick old engine oil from engines.

I plumbed a stop & take off point to the shower head inside the airing cupboard . Can now hot power wash with soap if needed through the 120 bar Alto power washer .
It's one of my better decisions made a long time ago , I used it today to power wash off a heap of 17 dirty power tools I've been given . They came up looking good , now it's a case of leaving them on raised pallets in the glasshouse with my 300 watt power fan on to dry them out over the next 48 hrs or so before I chance things and see if they work . It worked with the other 15 power tools from a previous batch of old tools .

Maintained & repaired a Husqvarna swivel head strimmer this afternoon , Was given it with the words .." It won't stay in the lawn edge cutting position "
I asked if they had tried to repair it

" NO Dave things like that are beyond me ".
On stripping it I discovered that two locking springs in the rotating & locking mechanism were missing . Did a major hunt through my cabinets of, " These might be handy one day " which produced two reasonable different sized compression springs. Fitted them them , reassembled & tested it = OK then stripped the line cassette cleaned it of grass juice crud , sprayed the internals with silicone mist spray and refilled the line cassette with new line . gave it a quick dry test buzz to ensure the auto line feed works ..

.Daves a happy bunny, as this Flymo equivalent is £59 & I needed one with a lawn edger facility on it . Last time I saw the Husky version on sale it was about £130 .
Funny thing is all have the same Swedish Electrolux motor and are supposedly made in Sweden

A small one today but these dolly's are normally abandoned & covered in rust on the floor so I gave then a buffing with 8 inch wire wheel and some tool wax to protect them. I have some car cill welding to start again so they will be put to work again soon

Been over at a customer in Ireland last week, servicing some kit we supplied a couple of years ago...
Valve servicing across different areas, mechanical seals on various pumps, and seals on some tank agitators.
All back together, full I/O test and water test.

A media empty and fresh media refill on my blast cabinet. Seived on the way in to ensure smooth media flow.

I also removed the air filter and gave it a really good shake and blow out with compressed air.



Glass sheet is lightly blasted - I will order 4 or 6 replacements from local glaziers soon and have them ready to swap out. The thumb screws make it easy from above.

Now I need to go and drain both my air compressor tanks.

I cant remember the French billionair inventor guys name, Dan something? Anyway in his YT videos, recommends getting glass with a DLC coating, for a blasting cabinet.

Single-sided adhesive sheets on the inner faces might be cheaper than new windows. Simply peel off the useless one , wipe the glass with a soft cloth damped with acetone or similar , then put the sticky sheet in place .
It's available in long rolls too .
