well today saw the fabrication of 3 hanging basket brackets for MRS M so I set to work with flat bar for the back plates, round bar for the boom? and some big washers for the hanging eye. I also got a bit artistic with the plasma and made some butterflies for bracing and detailed the bottom of the back plates.
she is happy with them and they fit in on her "gallery" wall..............

it looks as though you were right chunkolini there is indeed an artist hiding in all of us, the butterflies were sketched out free hand with a sharpie pen then cut freehand with the plasma and I have to say im getting better at the whole drawing thing and getting ideas from brain to metal...

A total mess of a Motor and fan...
Not really me, But I got called out to take a fan off and swap the motor, Easy Job the boss said.. 7 hours later the fan was still on the shaft and an Engineer from the site saying he would have it off before his 8.30 meeting the following day.. Bumped into said Engineer today.. The had to grind the motor to pieces, starting at the back to get down to the shaft.. No room between the drive end of the motor and fan housing to get in, not enough room to break the case of the motor and get to the stator and pull the fan out due to ducting.. I went up to have a look and there was a strong smell of grinding in the air and what was a motor pilled up.. Heard that that the fan is off having the hub re-welded over the weekend, then fitted to the motor for me to balance on Monday..
What went from 2 lads in half a day, has turned into a £3.5k nightmare. Off to the pub to celebrate not getting to involved.

I made the shiny one on the left yesterday.
It's part of a one way valve thing for dad's Blake water pump. There would be a rubber washer on the back of them to seal it, a brass bolt through the middle and a spring sits in the big hole. I need to make another one today. I also need to make a press-type-thing to make some leather cup washers for it too.

What diameter are they? Some wad cutters/punches are worthwhile getting for tasks like that.

He will probably need to buy a new one, once he starts doing bigger stuff on his lathe.
