To TIG or not to TIG....

I bought an ac/DC TIG set several years ago (an Apex TIG 200 for £450) and it's one of the useful things in the workshop. If it lets go and emits its magic smoke tomorrow, I couldn't do without an ac TIG set. It's a very useful tool once you've got one.

I've a 500 Euro ac/dc tig, the gas and rental has probably cost me more over the last 6 / 7 years.

Very useful bit of kit, but a steep learning curve I'm still climbing.

Same. £100 a year renting the gas bottle (free gas tho as I use so little) but does venture into the debate on Chinese invert Vs warranted EU machine. Dont go there, there's lots of other threads on that subject.

Yes, this has come up, but I'm in France, and my Gas company were reluctant to tell me rent free bottles existed....
