I'm in the process of building an atv trailer and I'm just researching the possibility of adding a hydraulic ram to tip the body.
Assuming the hinge pin is at the rear most end of the trailer, should I be looking to mount the ram in the center, near the axle or at the headboard end? The ram I'm looking at is 570mm pin to pin with a 400mm stroke.
Can the ram lift from a horizontal position or should it ideally be pointing in the intended direction of travel.
I've got 100mm from the bottom of the axle to the bottom of the floor so the ram could sit about 8 degrees above the horizontal as a head start but would this be enough?
Never dealt with hydraulics before so really have no idea. I'm looking at a flowfit trailer kit.
Thanks for any tips
