I think we've established that an actual electrician is required, or someone with An Elfin Clue regarding electrical safety... As it is, it's beyond "potentially" lethal, it's a death waiting to happen.Just because you've switched that circuit off it could well be connected to another still live one.
Buy yourself a cheap multimeter from Screwfix etc and you can do some basic testing.
I agree, its also often easier to start from scratch and get it right, than fix other bodgesIf I had to work in that building I would spend a couple of hundred quid and a weekend. Rip out everything back to the incoming, new consumer unit, new wires, new sockets all round.
No.Just wanted to know if it was possible for wires to have 'current' lingering in them.
I didn't spot that! The brown is on the incoming unswitched live,
that passed a EIRC has it![]()
my middle finger is too quick! Is that like an EICR?
That's not 7 neutrals on the black incomer to the isolator, that's the neutral outer to a concentric cable - which consists of a large red central core and multiple black outer strands. As far as I can see there's only four outgoing neutrals on the terminal block beneath, lights, socket ring (x2), and the miscreant armoured cable black.its looking rather strange only 3 red output cables and 7 neutralsthat realy needs investigating properly by someone who knows its askin for it just messing on with that. it needs rcd protection as well
concentic shouldnt be used to supply a dbThat's not 7 neutrals on the black incomer to the isolator, that's the neutral outer to a concentric cable - which consists of a large red central core and multiple black outer strands. I was afraid to touch my screen... Kept one hand in my pocket when I had to.My advice to OP is to get a proper sparky in to sort it out. Looks scary even when seen over the internet!
Not any more it shouldn't, but it used to be common practice. Split concentric too, which this probably is, with a few earth strands alongside the neutrals. Seen it regularly in farm setups and as flat submains.concentic shouldnt be used to supply a db![]()
