Tin Sheet

Hi guys.
I have been asked to produce a sculpture in Tin for a 10th anniversary as it is the metal for this anniversary. They are asking for a sheep
My first thought was 'No I cant' but I hate saying that.
Plan A, make an armature of mild steel, then fit it with a coat of pieces of tin crimped onto the structure to give a coat.
Do you think this is feasible?
How could I fit the Tin onto the steel? I have no experience of soldering which was another thought.
From my minimal knowledge I think it is a very soft metal that would be suitable to be treated like this.
next, where would I source any tin, I was guesstimating about 1mm thick.

Bend the tin around so the bit the rivets go through are hidden?

I don't suppose a 'tin plated' sculpture would be acceptable? May be prohibitively expensive in any case, I'm not sure?

soldering is easier than brazing chunko....

going to cost something I would think..

If you beat the hell out of some sheet with a ball pein hammer you could get a decent shape for the body, the lumps would also simulate the coat of the sheep, break it up into 6 or 8 sections and you should have a do-able body, an armature would make it stable.You could tack weld it to the armature and throw a little silver solder over the burn through spots on the outside. The head would be easy enough to rough shape. it all depends on what the client wants detail and scale wise

Like Graham says, I think tin is berserk expensive

I'm afraid you won't be able to braze tin as it's melting point is too low,you'll have to soft solder it & even then you'll have to take care with the iron,hope they've got a big wallet as tin costs a fortune, better to use tin plated steel & soft solder them on.

I had wondered about prices, size? I have just asked for clarification.
'How much would a sheep made in tin cost?'
That was what I was just asked.
Does my head in.
Hopefully I will get down to finding what they want without wasting too much of my time. I can never tell who are the time wasting nutters and who mean business.

They did mention pewter as well.
I think for now I will wait until I get some more information from my 'customer'.
I do get a few weirdoes who love asking questions and fannying about pretending to be genuine.
A nutter filter would be a great device.

Make them a sculpture out of different size bean tins, it would look like something from Bill and Ben though.
