Time to consult the oracle

Looking for a length of spare chain & a few links to keep in the just in case box.

Measuring with a ruler it it could be ASA50-1 or 10B1
I cant find my micrometer to get the extra accuracy needed down to 0.04 to 0.125mm

I think the machine is made in Finland.

Are they basically interchangeable?

ASA50-1
Pitch: 15.875mm (5/8")
Chain Width: 9.525mm
Roller Diameter: 10.16mm
10B1
Pitch: 15.875mm (5/8")

Oddly the parts book for the machine lists it as 2050 which is crazy as thats a 1" pitch chain that this is def not.

The 10b1 would def fit over a cog designed for the ASA50-1 as it has a slightly wider width but the roller is 0.04mm bigger.

I doubt context will help as the makers official parts book has the wrong size chain in it.
It oddly has the correct sized cogs.

Cogs 5/8th chain 1" so thats not going to work.

Its a Dunn 420 processor from around 2014 ish but the drive chain is used across industry & agriculture for many jobs.

Since posting my new verniers have arrived.

Due to wear all the measurements could still be both chain options bar one.

The side plate thickness. Mine are 2mm.
So its a ASA50-1

So a nice cheap option to buy a length & some joiners.

The 2050 was going to be an arm & a leg.

I'd go for the 50, side plate thickness could be less with the 10b.

Usually depends on where the machine was made. If USA it will be type 50 if Europe probably type 10B. Incidentally both are imperial sizes so measure it with the imperial side of your vernier for correct results. I know a lot of catalogues show the sizes in mm but that is because they are stupid.

There are some oddball chain/sprocket combinations about, got a problem with a Rotavator that's got a Chinese chain/sprockets. Nothing mainstream fits it and our friendly stockists want over £300 to get a roll in, I am going to convert it to something more readily available.

I have, It measured as 2mm anyway so must be the 50-1
That was the only measurement that could be accurately used to ID it.
All the others varied enough to be either.

I think this is Finland but not sure.

But its def 50-1 as the side plates were 2mm not 1.6mm

Sadly vernier is metric only.

The listed chain was going to be about £300 for 1m with 4 joiners.
Thankfully the listing was wrong & I got a meter & 6 joins for less than £20.

I think at that price I might change the complete chain soon.
Down side is I then need some K2 sections for holders.
