i wouldnt use flushing fluid in any engine if theres crap sat there doing nothing it isnt doing any harm. loosen and flush it and it goes through your bearings great for bedding in on your white metal bearings
i took me van in for its warranty service and they offered it . i asked them to explain it and they were evasive after i told them the bad point of getting it done

I f****d the engine on my old car with engine flush, all said, probs shouldent have done 500 miles with it in !

oil changes
with all modern engines with EGR valves and on 15000/20000 miles oil changes
the dealers don't want your cars to last if you went down the old route of change oil and filter every 6 thousand miles i wonder how long that would last
on my last peugeot HDI diesel oil and filter every 6000 miles when i sold it had 295000 miles on it engine never touched original turbo
had two gearbox's one clutch three cam belt kits lots of bottom arms discs pads etc
most of the other taxi running HDI had loads of bother turbo's heads clutches etc but none of them used to change the oil regularly only at 20000miles or once a year
one Kid did 48000 miles on a petrol vectra never had a service or oil change went bang at 48000 when asked when it was serviced all he said was well i kept topping it up
so the old saying does work you look after your car and it will look after you

It's because they can make a lot of money quickly, they don't have to care about quality reputation as all the major operators are doing it (including the main dealers, "we recommend you change your brake fluid, antifreeze,brkake discs" when not necessary etc) and there's no legal repurcussions for them.

Brake fluid and antifreeze, at least Ethelyne Glycol, DOES require changing. Brake fluid because it is hygroscopic. After a couple of years, the water absorbed can boil under the pressure of heavy braking. This turns to steam and you have no brakes, just when you need them most. Post mortem mechanical test will show the brakes working perfectly.
Antifreeze corrosion inhibitors degrade over time. 2 years or so and there is little left, so it is not giving the protection required. This does not apply to Waterless colant, which does not degrade.
Brake discs will need changing because they are wear items. Once below a certain thickness, they will not tolerate the stress of the heat build up when hard braking. Your choice of course, but I disagree that "they" are at it.

In my opinion it is not false economy it is plain stupid not to change you oil they make no meantion about style of driving which make the biggest difference to your oil all they say is arduous conditions many people think arduous is being run down the motorway at 90 mph for hundreds of miles and running to the shops at 30 is easy but it is the exact opposite, short runs are the best way to change the oil spec in a few WEEKS to a thick gloop that is not filtered in the first few minutes of running .
I work for main dealer mercedes. The commercial side. Engine flushs is a no no. They destroy engines nearly every time. Brakes fluid will be done every 2 years and I think antifreeze in the vans is 15 years. We have measurements for disc's which we follow. But if there below. theres no point changing them intil your pads are worn out. Are services are between 18000 to 28000 miles on the new stuff. Oil technology has come along away over the last 20 years. We have customers who do 150000 miles a year for 3 years and dits very rare we have any big issues. The trucks which run the same oil get service every 80000-100000 miles. Its very rare we ever touch one of these engines. The big customers are doing 500000 miles a year. This proves oil technology has come along away and servicing can be stretched to what they are at now.
